Weekly Prayer Direction
Leader aidHow to direct group prayer after State of the Heart (5 minutes) and after Equipping (10 minutes), with the ABBA guidelines.
After STATE OF THE HEART — Prayer of Preparation: 5 Minutes
After you share your SOH and before you move into discussing material, spend 5 minutes in conversational prayer. Use a timer. Intentionally direct your prayer to two areas:
1. Whatever surfaced in the SOH for yourself or others. Be mindful of God’s loving pursuit in and through our circumstances.
2. Asking the Holy Spirit to illuminate the truth you’ll discuss. Ask Him to increase your love for Jesus and others.
After EQUIPPING — Prayer of Reflection & Mission: 10 Minutes
After you discuss material and its applications to life, spend 10 minutes in conversational prayer together. Intentionally direct your prayer to three areas and feel free to make use of prayer cards (from year 1 units on prayer):
ABBA Guidelines
As you seek to grow in prayer together, follow these ABBA guidelines:
1. Attentive to one another
2. Be brief (try praying 2-4 sentences but pray multiple times)
3. Be childlike
4. Attentive to the Holy Spirit
